Making architectural plans is the first step towards establishing your buildings. Though there are so many other steps involved in building process, architectural plans are considered to have significant role because they make all the other steps easier. For implementing anything, you need proper planning and architecture is no exception to this rule.
If you plan to build your house or commercial complex, you cannot simply start with bricks and mortars. You need to plan everything in advance before commencing the real work. You must be ready with the whole project details, the design of the building must be ready in hand and you must be aware of the amount of money needed. The comprehensive drawings that represent the finished project are called as architectural plans. Some people call this as blueprints or floor plans. You should have the list of materials that are to be used and notes about designs in architectural plans. This is the first portion of designing your building. Architectural plans help you to get an idea about the whole project and this may lead to final plans.
You should draft the layout and this part of architectural plans is what is used by the contractor to build the building. The changes in elevations, steps and slopes, must be noted in this plan. Architectural plans should be drawn to scale so that one can easily read them and follow them. Though the plans are uniform throughout the building process, you may make minor changes then and there if situation demands. These architectural plans act like a map which speaks of the whole project.
Architectural plans give specific details about the materials used. The contractor should stick to the architectural plans strictly. If he wants to make any changes, this should be done only after consulting the owner or the architect who drafted the plan. If you have to make more changes then you may need a completely new set of plans.
Architectural plans are prepared by architects who have license. Then he must show it to the owner for approval. After approving the plans you may ask quotations from different contractors. Budgets should be compared before making final decision. Architectural plans have to be accurate and informative. This is not a rough diagram drawn with a pencil. This is done after thorough planning so that you get a fair estimate of the work to be done.
