Renewable Energies Meeting: Commitment of Different Energy Ministers and Sectors around the World
from:
The rapid depletion rate of fossil fuel reserves around the world prompts different energy specialists and advocates developing the use of renewable energies to be the primary source of power. In addition to depleting fossil fuel deposits, combustion of such fuels contributes to the drastic climatic change that we are experiencing today. It produces harmful greenhouse gases which are considered to be the one of the causes of global warming.
Cost of energy commodities are varying significantly, noting high changes in the prices. It is due to the weather condition, quantity of produced finished oil products and its corresponding refining cost, and the political and economic rifts that affects the energy market. As a result, we the end-users are suffering from the high electricity cost that local electric utility companies are imposing. Add to it the increasing cost of basic commodities in the local market due to increasing transportation cost from farm to market.
That is why renewable energy is now undergoing its extensive enhancement to be available for residential, commercial, and industrial use. To further promote renewable energy to the world, different energy ministers and other energy advocates of each country conduct renewable energies meeting.
What are the usual agenda that they are discussing in the said meeting? There are several matters that they are tackling with in the renewable energies meeting. First is the endorsement of renewable energies and increasing its share in global energy supply. They are endorsing it to augment the fossil fuel supply which is now depleting in a rapid rate. Using renewable energies are not only for augmentation but also for the purpose of offering new opportunities for cooperation among all countries.
Second matter lined up in their agenda is outlining the policy guidelines and action plan of measures that will be used by different governments and corporations in endorsing renewable energies. Policy guidelines include preparing resolutions like the Climate Change Convention to be ratified by an international body like United Nations to have the necessary endorsements.
Action plan of measures includes energy programs that will concentrate on the development of renewable energy power system and improving energy efficiency of the existing ones and the enactment of respective legislature body of law that authorizes funding for government energy grants and loans that will help in promoting renewables in different sectors of our society such as agriculture, small business, and rural organizations.
Another matter included in the agenda is the dialogues between energy ministers and the representatives of oil-producing countries such as Iraq and Saudi Arabia to form a concrete plan on producing and selling oil products to different countries. Uncertainty over the future of oil supplies from these oil-producing countries prompts international ministers to ask for some dialogue. They want to be assured that these countries will produce enough oil so that there will be no shortage which results to high barrel prices.
Aside from the energy ministers from different countries around the world, renewable energies meeting is also attended by senior officials and corporate executives of different energy companies who are willing to invest in renewable energy productions; non-government organizations who are pursuing the usage of green power (another word for renewables) ; and energy users as well.
The commitment to promote renewable energy is not ended during the meeting. It will continue down to different government and other concerned sectors of our society to ensure that we will have enough supply of energy amidst rapid growth of the world’s population.
