Renewable Energy Corporation; From Waste to Energy Solutions

from:

Different sectors of our society are encouraged to take part in the development of renewable sources of energy. Governments through its legislature must enact laws which will help in financing different renewable energy projects through grants and loan programs. Non-government organizations are also expected to conduct extensive research and promotion of these new energy sources.

The business sector is said to be one of the members of our society which has a capability of extending financial help. Some of the funding is provided by different business organization to finance different renewable energy projects. In addition, they are also encouraged to invest on these projects for sustainable energy development.

There are several investors who answer the call for an additional investment on renewable energy. One of them is the Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) which specializes on renewable energy sources investment. Currently, they are on developing one the biomass renewable energy which will benefit the agricultural sector and at the same time most people living in the rural areas of the United States and other countries as well.

REC- Biomass Energy Generation

Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) is currently investing on the potential of biomass energy (or energy which can be generated through agricultural and biological wastes) and capitalizing it as a market opportunity not only for large-scale investors but most especially for small agricultural producers.

REC considered investing on renewable energy particularly on waste energy because of the potential growth of renewable energy market. Australia is aiming for 9,500 gigawatt-hours of generated electricity by 2010. The European Union is also targeting 12 percent of total electricity generated be from renewable sources by the year 2012. It also expects a total investment of 165 billion euro, of which the biomass is expected to grow its market share by around 50 percent.

The biomass resources are also huge, which ranges from different agricultural and even organic industrial wastes. These wastes which have potentials in energy generation are as follows:

1. Forest and wood wastes such as sawdust, bark, paper or pulp sludge, and others;

2. Agricultural residues such as animal manures (chicken and hog) and crop wastes (rice hulls, palm oil fruit baskets, peanut shells);
3. Organic industrial wastes (biodegradable foodstuffs); and

4. Sewage sludge.

If combined together, these residuals represent 65 percent of the world’s total waste and can be used in energy generation. For instance, in Germany, about 42 million tons of biomass is generated each year which could be utilized to generate 2,800 megawatts of biomass energy.

REC will be using the Close-Coupled Gasifier to turn aforementioned waste into useful energy. The biomass will enter the waterwide unit of the system which the wastes will be undergoing a 1,200-degree Celsius heat temperature. The heat generated from such waste is used in the boiler to run the stem turbine which produces a processed steam. This processed steam can be utilized to generate electricity.

The Close-Coupled Gasifier is a high-reliable biomass system which needs minimal labor work. It also produces clean emissions which are composed of nitrogen gas and small amounts of water vapor, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The residues of the waste after heating contain low ash, which is suitable for fertilizer use.

The Renewable Energy Corporation is just one of the energy companies who believe on the capability of renewable energy to deliver our electricity needs. They are also seeing the rapid growth of the renewable energy market and its development as well.

For REC, the time for renewable energy business has arrived.
